When the guides are new they are flat, after many miles there will a track the length of them worn into the soft material. they are relatively inexpensive and will tension the chain closer to new tension. Carefully check both the crank and camshaft gear for wear. Honda's wear more on the crank gear, the last one I took apart actually slipped when turned backwards by accident. A couple of the teeth were hooked rather than pointed with rounded top. There is also a spec for wear in the chain plated and pins (often called stretch). Max
